Job Description/Requirements

FUNCTION:


In the framework of the Education Programme in Myanmar, the Curriculum Revision Consultant will support

NRC in development, definition and roll out of minimum requirement per specific courses, and refining the

contents of existing material and build NRC’s capacity with necessary tools and methodology using available

short courses and surveys with relevant stakeholders.

LOCATION:


For the purpose of this work, the NRC team is located in Sittwe, Myanmar. Although presence/access of the

consultant/their team to Sittwe is considered an advantage, given restrictions on travel, NRC will accept a

remote-work modality should the consultant or their teams are not able to access Sittwe.

REPORTING TO:


Education Project Manager and Education specialist shall receive weekly updates on the consultancy’s

progress and recommendation for improvement/future actions. The curriculum consultant should

periodically discuss and agree with the Education Project Managers and Education specialist about contents,

length of new topics and overall revision/enhancement plan.

The consultant should report to Education Project Manager and Education specialist any expected delays to

the works outlined in this ToR. 


CONSULTANT DUTIES:


 Undertake a desk review by using existing curriculum developed by different organizations related

to specific skills.

 Produce template, tools, guidance for identifying minimum and advance requirement for vocational

courses, course plans and course evaluation test.

 Support and train NRC team on the identification of minimum and advance requirement for

vocational courses process using the tools developed and support on methodology. The

methodology should include consultation and interviews with market actors, technical personnel,

youth and other if needed and appropriate. The list of vocational courses under this activity includes:

Carpentry, Mobile-phone repair, Electric house wiring and Masonry.

 Create a guiding document with existing technical material for each vocational course, if exists for

the following vocational courses: Carpentry, Mobile phone repair, Hair cut, Electric house wiring,

Masonry, Welding, Produce and repair fish nets, Sewing machinery repair, Cooking and Handicraft.

 As part of minimum and advanced requirement, suggest course plan, mid-term and final term

evaluation test. Both practical and theoretical, to be used in order to evaluate acquisition of skills

and competences among youth.

 Refine and revise existing NRC materials related to vocational course minimum requirements. This

includes Motorbike repair and Dress making courses.

 Provide a final version of the work both in English and in Myanmar.

 Provide a final report that includes methodology, main activities conducted, challenges and lessons

learnt in English.

 The consultant/their team to arrange and cover their transportation and accommodation and reflect

it when submitting the workplan and quotation.

 Although NRC will support the consultant/their team to access field locations, if needed, however,

the consultant/their teams are expected to purse their own channels to gain access.

 Translation costs to be reflected in the workplan and quotation submitted.

NRC DUTIES:


 Provide the consultant/their team with available materials and resources, as listed under section

‘Reference Documents’

 Ensure NRC’s team availability to attend relevant workshops, trainings and capacity building

opportunities.

 Provide guidance and inputs to the works throughout the consultancy period.

 NRC will cover the following costs: training related costs (venue, refreshment, stationary),

Refreshment for interviews and focus group discussions. Any other forseen costs not included in

this document to be discussed with NRC before signing the contract.

DELIVERABLES:


 Produce and develop a methodology that includes template, tools, guidance for identifying minimum

and advance requirement for vocational courses, producing course plan and assessment templates

 Facilitate trainings and workshops in Burmese language to build NRC team capacity on the

methodology defined above to enable the team to identify minimum and advanced requirements

for different vocational courses independently

 Produce minimum and advanced requirements, course plan and evaluation tests for the following

vocational courses: Carpentry, Mobile-phone repair, Electric house wiring and Masonry with support

from the NRC team.

 Create a guiding document with existing technical material for each vocational course, if exists for

the following vocational courses: Carpentry, Mobile phone repair, Haircut, Electric house wiring,

Masonry, Welding, Produce and repair fish nets, Sewing machinery repair, Cooking and Handicraft.

 Refine and revise existing NRC materials related to vocational course minimum requirements. This

includes only Motorbike repair and Dress making courses.

 All works above are expected in both Burmese and English languages

 Submit a final report that includes methodology, main activities conducted, challenges and lessons

learnt in English.
