Economic Security Generalist (ICRC)

Job Description/Requirements

Main responsibilities

▪ Participates in relief/production need assessment by collecting all relevant information for the

implementation of the program;

▪ Interviews authorities, local communities and beneficiaries under supervision;

▪ Collects information / is aware on other organizations programmes;

▪ Proposes assistance activities, proposes corrective measures when necessary and participates to ICRC

field activities such as distribution of food, in-kinds, or cash;

▪ Contributes to analyzing the security, socioeconomic, cultural and political environment in her area

of responsibility (AoR) as it relates to the ICRC and also contributes to analyzing the strengths,

weaknesses, opportunities and threats in his/her AoR to identify possible response options in line

with EcoSec Department guidelines and methodologies;

▪ Participates in beneficiaries’ registration according to ICRC criteria, standards and guidelines;

▪ Carries out monitoring of the activities and draft monitoring reports;

▪ Maintains regular contacts with Myanmar Red Cross (MRCS) branches and other interlocutors (NGO,

CSOs) and assures follow-up;

▪ Conducts focus group discussion with beneficiaries, communities or local authorities, and can conduct

dissemination about ICRC’s mandate and activities;

▪ Together with the Database manager, participates in the internal reporting of the activities under her

geographical and/or technical scope, and follows-up the way beneficiary communities engage with

the ICRC and what feedback they have on ICRC activities;

▪ Ensures accountability to the affected population is incorporated in the way the projects are

implemented and that communities are communicated the way to use the feedback and complaints

▪ Knows, applies and complies with all the administrative procedures linked to his work (financial

forecast, WAD, budget follow up, Requisition Order follow up, data entry etc.)

▪ Writes fieldtrip and assessment reports on given guidelines

▪ Assists the EcoSec Department in organizing meetings/workshops at state or national level, when

required and attends regular or exceptional meetings, workshops or trainings in Sittwe or Yangon, if


▪ Translates written documents to English or Burmese when required and also interprets in any situation

with accuracy.

Requirements and experience

▪ University degree in a relevant discipline (University of Economy, University of Social Sciences,

University of Agriculture and/or Veterinary etc.);

▪ 2 years’ work experience in a relevant field;

▪ Good computer skill;

▪ Good communication skills and analytical skills;

▪ Good knowledge of geographically assigned environment;

▪ Fluency in written and spoken English as well as Myanmar language. The knowledge of local dialects

spoken in the Rakhine State is a definite asset;

▪ Previous ICRC and/or Red Cross Movement experience is also a strong asset;

▪ Good understanding of the armed conflict dynamic affecting Rakhine State and Chin State and its

humanitarian consequences
