Education in Emergency Officer (AVSI)

Job Summary

The Education in Emergency Officer will be responsible to implement EiE activities under Bhamo and Momauk townships, leading and coordinating volunteer teachers in IDP camps and villages and ensuring timely implementation of all project activities

  • Minimum Qualification: Bachelor

Job Description/Requirements

Main tasks and responsibilities:

• To adhere to the project requirements in organizing activities related to the targeted children

and his\her family and community

• To organise and carry out distribution of materials to targeted children keeping track and

compiling appropriate delivery forms

• To provide support and guidance to volunteer teachers being their first point of contact

• Under the direct supervision of EiE TA, with assistance of Team Leader and in a cooperation

with other field officers, CBO’s and other partner organizations, to participate on

development and implementation of approaches that will lead to an improved integrated

delivery of the program

• To submit regular reports (written and verbal) concerning ongoing activities to the EiE TA

In Addition to the above tasks, the Employee could be requested to carry out any other duties related to

the implementation of the above-mentioned project, as assigned by his supervisor.

Essential Requirements:

Education: University degree in Education, Social Sciences or any other relevant field

Work Experience:

• Minimum 3 years working experience in project implementation working in education

humanitarian/recovery programs in insecure, complex and volatile environments.

• Minimum 1.5 years working experience in Education in Emergency sector

Required skills and experiences:

Hard skills:

• Sound experience in implementing education in emergency activities and providing support to a

wide array of field facilitators

• Knowledge (theory and practice) of all stages of the project cycle management

• Excellent writing and speaking skills and ability to develop complex arguments

• Technical expertise in education, youth, adolescence, peacebuilding, teacher education, socioemotional awareness and learning

• Prior knowledge and experience in using mobile data collection tools for resource-limited

settings (i.e. Kobo toolbox) considered a distinguished asset

• Excellent experience in report writing, both of short briefs and in-depth

• Excellent organizational skill functional to perform under minimal supervision

• Willingness to work under tight schedules

• Aptitude to field work with ability to travel with short notice

• Computer literacy with proficient use of MS Office suite (especially MS Excel)

Soft Skills:

• Proactive person willing to take initiative

• Flexibility

• Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation,

coaching and capacity building as well as ability to work with diverse teams

• Team-working skills and provide support to multiple staffs

• Able to work under pressure and under strict deadlines

• Identify him/herself with the mission, vision and values of AVSI Foundation
