Role and responsibilities
The following is a brief description of the role.
These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The responsibilities shall be
short and essential. Details belong in the Work- and Professional Development Plan.
1. Become familiar with NRC Education Handbook.
2. Support monitoring and evaluation activities and all report writing activities
3. Record and maintain project specific field documents according NRC Education Program
4. Abide by all standard NRC security protocols when circulating in the field and encourage team
members to do the same.
5. Support the conducting of market surveys and assessments
6. Prepare and file relevant documents as required by line manager
These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of
operation, strategic focus and type of programme intervention. This section shall be revised whenever a
new employee is hired or the context changes significantly.
Prepare and conduct Small Business Skills classes for Youth Education Program- YEP students
and mobile vocational activities, materials and training provided, including working together with
other program trainers to prepare relevant teaching/learning materials, and other trainer duties;
Support monitoring and evaluation activities and all report writing activities
Record and maintain project specific field documents according NRC Education Program
Support the selection processes of target locations and participants in the Youth Education
Program (YEP), for example village assessments, mobilization of community leaders;
Work with Education Officer/ assistant to ensure equipment and materials for YEP classes are
Lead creating youth savings and loans group those had finished the vocational courses and
Conduct foundational literacy and numeracy courses if needed:

Meet with students at defined intervals during vocational training to monitor progress, provide
support, and resolve any difficulties encountered;
Formation of savings and loan group for youth entrepreneur/ business starter
Acquire familiarity with the various careers that NRC focuses on or that students show interest in,
through visits to work sites, interviews with workers and employers, research into salaries and entry
requirements, and documentary information where available;
Study the local labour supply and employment demand anecdotally through purposeful observation
and attention to local business and projects;
Support the coach and mentor the arrangement of internships, and apprenticeships for students;
Organize advice sessions for students featuring experienced workers in relevant career fields.
Where applicable, arrange targeted sessions for students considering non-traditional choices, i.e. a
talk for girls by a woman working in a traditionally male field, etc;
For students interested in entrepreneurship, linking them to NRC business coach-mentors to access
entrepreneurial management training, financial services access, and other small-business skills;
Generic professional competencies for this position:
Experience in financial literacy and business management is highly recommended
Analytical skill in local market demands
Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
Experience in formation of savings and loan group
Strong public speaking and communication skills
Some knowledge of English
