Job Description/Requirements
Quality laboratory services
• Conduct basic microscopy diagnosis (preps, gram, Ziehl Nielsen, India Ink and other common stains and urine,
fecal and CSF examinations) and serological tests for diagnosis of HIV, OIs, STIs, hepatitis B and C in accordance
with MdM guidelines.
• Provide laboratory investigation results to the relevant doctor in a timely manner.
• Efficiently coordinate with clinic staff to ensure optimal laboratory and clinical services (for e.g. to ensure
quality of blood samples taking etc)
• Prepare and deliver the specimens to external partner laboratory for quality control upon need (e.g. NTP for
TB Sputum slides EQAS)
• Ensure quality check of HIV testing/test kits by providing diagnosis of samples sent from NHL and NRL 6
monthly
• Receive viral load samples from Kachin and deliver to PSI laboratory for necessary testing.
• Check the data accuracy of HTC data with Data Clerk and HTC Counsellor for monthly basic.
• Conduct internal quality control measures for HIV testing with other bases
• Apply universal precautions and infection control measures (as per MdM protocols) in the laboratory
• Report laboratory data to line manager.
• Inform to line manager and technical supervisor for gaps/challenges of laboratory operations/stock
management, if identified.
2.Use and Management of laboratory device, safety of laboratory premises
• Ensure the appropriate use/care of laboratory equipment and consumables.
• Perform cleaning and minor maintenance for biomedical equipment used. Following the user manual and
protocols and alert supervisor in case of malfunctioning
• Maintain cleanliness in the laboratory (ensure general cleaning of the laboratory by cleaner every day)
• Ensuring proper sample waste and used sharps disposal according to MdM protocols and highest safety
standards
• Applying hygiene and safety protocols, doing daily cleaning /maintenance, sterilization, washing general
glassware after procedures are done.
3. Stock management
• Plan mission orders for the laboratory consumables, follow up the consumption and adjust the next orders
accordingly
• Keep the laboratory consumable/equipment inventory up to date
4. General
• Participate in relevant team meeting provide inputs relevant to laboratory topics.
• Keep the confidentiality of clients.
• Accompany outreach activity, if required (mobile HTS).
Qualifications and Expérience
Education (Essential)
• Bachelor of Science
• At least grade II certificate in medical laboratory
Professional Experience
• At least one-year experience as a lab staff in INGO/Hospitals/clinics
• Working experiences in the field of HIV
• Experience of working with NGOs or INGOs is an asset
