Job Description/Requirements

Roles and Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities:

Planning, Implementation and Budgeting

• Responsible for day-to-day implementation of all livelihood activities across MA-UK

programmes, including developing and adhering to work plans, supporting project,

technical advice/design and implementing partner staff meet project objectives, and

support monitoring livelihood project activities.

• Prepare Quarterly work plans to deliver identified activities.

• Follow up the budget for relevant budget lines.

• Provide real time technical advice to project and partner staff through direct regular

field visits and Technical Working Group (TWG) meetings.

• Ensure beneficiaries are tracked for various livelihood activities and appropriate

documentation / information on beneficiaries is collected and recorded.

• Ensure that MA-UK provides quality services that meet SPHERE, CHS and other

international standards.

• Supervise and orient new team members as necessary on MA-UK livelihood activities.

• Create and sustain a work environment of mutual respect where team members strive

to achieve excellence.

Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting

• Work closely with MEAL team on regularly field visits, review complaints and address

the issues, CRFM/accountability and participate in monitoring and evaluation.

• Facilitate the qualitative and quantitative monitoring of the project through team

meetings, focus group, post-assistance visits, regular reporting, and any other

monitoring tools for livelihood activities.

• Provide regular internal reporting to Senior Technical Specialist, using standardized

tools (e.g., project-specific monitoring forms)

• Promote accountability, communicate expectations, and provide constructive feedback

via regular performance reviews.

• Participate in the internal evaluation of the programme.

Analysis, Innovative Thinking & Problem Solving

• Provide strategic direction, technical advice, and overall supervision throughout

implementation of LIV projects in MA-UK project locations.

• Participate in analyses of needs at the community level, assess resources available for

addressing the needs of vulnerable households, and suggest innovative approaches for

filling gaps in livelihood programming.

• Assist with conducting needs assessments for new proposal.

Skills, Competencies and Requirements
• Essential to bachelor’s degree level in Agriculture, Food Security, Economics, Food
Sciences, Development studies or similar field.
• Postgraduate degree in international development, sustainable livelihoods,
humanitarianism, programme management, or equivalent is desirable.
• 2-3 years’ experience of working in Livelihood/FSL programs in a humanitarian or
development context, including at least one year working overseas for an INGO.
• Proven experience in monitoring and evaluation of programmes; using of quantitative
and qualitative research data collected in support of programme development.
• Proven experience and knowledge of effective budgetary control and grant
• Previous experience of working in large-scale emergency, post conflict and
development programmes.
• Knowledge of SPHERE, CHS and DEC Accountability Framework priorities and other
humanitarian/development sector initiatives and standards.
• Understanding of development programmes design, implementation, and evaluation.
• Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of local language of the duty station is
considered as an asset.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to liaise effectively with people
at various levels.
• Good teamwork skills with the ability to work with different and sometime conflicting
• Good organization, coordination and project management skills.
• Strong and well-developed analytical skills coupled with experience of writing quality
proposals and reports Strong analytical abilities.
• IT literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn and
use any software adopted by Muslim Aid.
• Ability to adapt to changing deadlines and priorities.
• Ability to work in and with a diverse team.
• Ability to work under pressure and on own initiative.
• Ability to analyse and assess complex situations and develop policies.
• Willingness to travel at very short notice.
