The Nutrition Field Officer (NFO) will participate in the response to the need of the population of Mrauk-U and
Minbya Townships affected by protracted instability and conflict.
He/She works under the supervision of the PIN´s Project Manager and in close collaboration with relevant
departments (M&E, finance and logistics). The NFO is responsible for implementation of nutrition-related
activities in Minbya and Mrauk-U Townships and for coordination between PIN and partner organizations in
the field. The NFO will ensure activity planning, implementation and communication and will support ongoing
monitoring and evaluation. The NFO will also support capacity-building efforts of partners and target groups
by sharing knowledge and skills, and cultivating self-reliance.
NEEDS ASSESSMENT & COMMUNICATION WITH STAKEHOLDERS
Work with the Nutrition Technical Officer and Project Manager in determining project priorities
and proper implementation in target areas in line with overall project objectives.
Provide support and oversight as appropriate to partners and communities to carry out
baseline/endline assessments and post-distribution monitoring.
Communicate with partners, local authorities and community leaders to discuss community needs
and project objectives to build strong relationships, listen to the concerns of the community and
to communicate these needs to Project Manager.
IMPLEMENTATION AND ADMINISTRATION
Submit monthly Nutrition activity planning updates (Gantt chart) to Project Manager relying on the
Prepare supporting documents for TA (travel approval) and submit them to SOO at least two weeks
Manage and support the team under his/her responsibility (staff of PIN partner organisations)
Request and manage operational advances for project activities related to nutrition
Train volunteers and establish groups at village-level to promote positive IYCF practices in targeted
Ensure implementation of IYCF and referral activities as stated in the logical framework and in the
approved Gantt chart, particularly community based psychosocial support
On a weekly basis, inform the Project Manager on the implementation of activities and problems
arising from implementation
REPORTING, MONITORING AND EVALUATION (M&E)
Collect and maintain hard copies of all project related documents (lists of participants, meeting
minutes, reports from trainings, training manuals and guidelines, etc.)
Monitor progress of project activities, compare to plans, suggest and make adjustments as needed.
Submit a monthly narrative report based on the standard PIN internal reporting system
Collaborate closely with M&E Officer and Project Manager on donor reporting
Ensure/collect visual material (photos and videos) from the implemented activities
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and proven professional experience in relevant field.
2-3 years professional experience in nutrition, ideally IYCF promotion, projects with an INGO or NGO
Proven understanding of Rakhine State context and willingness to travel to the field
Capacity to work in remote areas with difficult access in volatile security environment
Proven ability to communicate positively and coordinate with diverse group of staff, stakeholders and
local authorities, and maintain good relationships.
Facilitation experience and ability to listen well and resolve conflicts that may arise desired
Ability to multi-task, follow procedures and meet deadlines.
Rigorous, flexible and dynamic.
Demonstrated patience, enthusiasm and strong personal skills with attention to detail, and work both
independently and cooperatively with team members.
Fluency in Burmese and intermediary level in English required. Local (regional) language ability a plus.
Good level of computer literacy – Word, Excel, Outlook - ability to type in both Burmese and English
