PE teaching assistants may support the whole class, by helping lead activities, or be assigned to work with one or more special needs students. Job Description/Requirements
There are a number of school activities, including extra-curricular activities and school sports programs, that rely on PE teaching assistants. They often take the lead role by coaching or coordinating programs. Other roles a teacher assistant may have in a school might depend on the individual's background and interests, or on the needs of the school, such as swimming instruction or additional sports training.
Teaching assistants also are expected to contribute to overall school safety by supervising activities, making sure equipment is used correctly and that students follow classroom rules.
