Job Description/Requirements


 Provide technical support on issue related to maternal and child care and nutrition, liaise with the

Township Health Department and other stakes holders (Humanitarian actors) as necessary to

promote and provide consistent good practices

 Conduct training such as under five sick child care and home based new born care to SCI staffs, CDFs

and CHWs to promote adequate access to maternal healthcare, develop capacities for nurturing safe

new-born care

 Take a lead in ensuring promotion activities and awareness is in place to boost earlier attendance in

antenatal care services

 Conduct mother care group session monthly to project staffs

 Make ensure stock management (i.e micronutrient supplementation and clean delivery kit) and report

stock tracker to supervisor

 Ensure all staff understand and implement programme guidelines used for assessing the pregnancy

from the first trimester and following up as appropriate

 Ensure appropriate and consistent education messaging to the mothers and the women who are in

adolescence stage in the community about gender equality, reproductive health (maternal and neonatal

health / menstrual hygiene management)

 Responsibility for the day-to-day management of project site activities and staff that is not limited to

maternal and childcare services i.e. Program Assistants, CDFs and CHWs.

 Conduct evaluation and develop to perform review of staff as required

 Liaise with other sectors such as child protection, wash, local leadership, women support groups and

other stakeholders in the community to ensure appropriate provision of antenatal and postnatal care

and to maximize collaboration and ensure proper coordination of activities

 Facilitate referral pathways to achieve functionally of referral pathways for pregnant, lactating women,

girls and new-borns with complications to access health care services

 Prepare and submit project progress reports including weekly, monthly and quarterly reports using

the recommended data collection and reporting tools

 Under the guidance of the Nutrition Advisor and/or Nutrition programme Manager, undertake local

level advocacy targeting other INGO’s, humanitarian actors, local authorities and SHD as appropriate,

on assessment and appropriate response to support maternal and child health care

 Any other tasks assigned by supervisor if required

Skills and Experience:
 Preferable experience in Humanitarian and development area regarding to Nutrition knowledge
 Experience of implementation maternal and child care programmes
 Proven capacity to supervise, train and coach staff and working with community members
 Willingness and capacity to be flexible and accommodating when faced with difficult and frustrating
working conditions
 Experience and ability to represent Save the Children's nutrition work in external meetings
 Demonstrable ability at report writing and management
Communication and Technical Skills:
 Essential reading, writing, understanding and speaking English
 Excellent personal organisational skills, including time management, and ability to meet deadlines and
work under pressure
 Professional working experience with international organizations preferable
 Proven team working ability
 Good communication skills
 Able to work in an uncertain security environment according to time restriction
 Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation developing effective working
relationships to deliver outstanding results for children
 Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles.
 Willingness and capability to comply with all relevant Save the Children policies and procedures with
respect to health and safety, security, equal opportunities and other relevant policies, including the
Child Safeguarding Policy
