Protection Field Officer (ICRC)

Job Description/Requirements

Main responsibilities

▪ Assists in monitoring all field activities, trainings and projects carried out by the Protection

Department in Rakhine State;

▪ Assists the Protection Delegate in the day-to-day running of the Protection Department, as required;

▪ Organizes the administrative, logistical and financial aspects of field trips, including notifications;

▪ In coordination with the Protection Delegate, analyses the protection concerns of the civilian

population in the Sittwe Sub Delegation Areas of Responsibilities (e.g. questions of access to health);

▪ Assists the Protection Delegate in organizing meetings with witnesses, victims and other involved

parties;

▪ Contributes to the regular analysis of Protection of Civilian Population (PCP) concerns and trends and

humanitarian consequences;

▪ Participates in visits to places of detention in Rakhine State;

▪ Contributes to the implementation of the Family Visit Programme, Safe Return Home Programme,

PCP assistance and other programmes. Keep track of expenses on these programmes;

▪ Contributes to the implementation of Restoring Family Link (RFL) activities in collaboration with the

Protection Delegate and according to the RFL guidelines;

▪ Together with the Protection Delegate, assesses the needs in Rakhine State areas and assists in

proposing and developing ICRC actions to address these needs;

▪ In coordination with the Protection Delegate, monitors the political and social environment and

identifies major issues and concerns relevant to the ICRC. Writes security reports on incidents as they

happen;

dignity of victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence and to provide them with

assistance. The ICRC also endeavors to prevent suffering by promoting and strengthening

▪ Supports the Protection Delegate in creating a strategy for improving the office’s Protection network;

▪ Develops and maintains a network of interlocutors both at State, District, Township and village levels;

▪ Interprets and translates for the Protection Delegate in meetings as required;

▪ Translates local news articles for expatriate staff in case of need.

Requirements and experiences

▪ University degree and or relevant diploma;

▪ 2 years’ work experience in Protection Field or a similar field and at least 3 years overall professional

experiences in humanitarian organizations;

▪ Very good knowledge of the humanitarian context in Rakhine State;

▪ Excellent communication skills both in English and in Myanmar;

▪ Good computer skills;

▪ The knowledge of local dialects (Muslim and Rakhine languages) is an asset;

▪ Previous ICRC experiences is a strong asset.
