Duties and Responsibilities for RS/GIS Analyst
Supporting the Assistant General Manager in making maps for Project Areas of Mangrove Restorations and conservations.
Analyzing spatial data through the use of mapping software (ArcGIS, Google Earth, QGIS, ENVI, Erdas Imaging and so forth).
Discovering suitable mangrove restoration and conservation areas through Google Earth imageries, Landsat 8 imageries, and other high-resolution satellite imageries, and so on.
Land Use Land Cover (especially mangrove forest types) maps, by using supervised classifications and vegetation indexes such as NDVI, SAVI, NDWI, MRI, etc.
Discovering patterns and trends through spatial mapping of data.
Creating "Shapefiles" and "KML files" to merge topographical data with external data by layering external data over a topographical map.
Converting "KML files" to "Shapefiles" and vice versa.
Performing data merging and cleaning to convert data into its desired form.
Required Skills and Experiences for RS/GIS Analyst
Degree in B. Sc. (Forestry) and Diploma in RS and GIS and related Fields.
Experience with mapping tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS, ENVI, Erdas Imaging, etc.
At least 2 years’ experience in related field
Experience with GPS measuring tools.
Excellent written and verbal communication in English and Myanmar (Burmese) languages.
Good interpersonal skills.
