Job Description/Requirements

Role and responsibilities

The purpose of the officer position is to follow up on day-to-day implementation of the Shelter

Programme activities.

Generic responsibilities

These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The responsibilities shall be

short and essential. Details belong in the Work and Development plan.

1. Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines

2. Implement delegated Shelter project portfolio according to plan of action

3. Prepare and develop status reports as required by management

4. Ensure proper filing of documents

5. Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and asses new and better ways

to assist

6. Promote and share ideas for technical improvement

7. Advise and assist in the development of detailed response designs, plans and cost estimates for

assigned programs and activities

8. Lead the field team in organizing communities to foster participation in the distribution/

rehabilitation /reconstruction process of schools, shelters and the delivery of its associated

materials, equipment and NFIs,

9. Become familiar with NRC Shelter Handbook. 

Generic professional competencies:

• Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts

• Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities

• Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile

• Understanding of the entire emergency cycle from DRR to recovery

Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:

• Any University degree with relevant technical skills and knowledge can apply

• Minimum (3-4) years humanitarian experience working with communities

• Communication skills (Speaking and writing) in English and it literate

• Strong technical knowledge and working experience on cash and vouchers

• Experience with leading distributions

• Context knowledge of Kachin (NGCA area context knowledge more prefer)

• Experience with program start-up (Emergency Response)

• Local Language (Kachin) will be advantage

• Experience with resilient and safe school construction/wash facilities construction will be

advantage
