Job Description/Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

In coordination with the State Coordinator, the Township Coordinator will be responsible for

the following activities:

Program Development

• Assist in the set up and organization and actively participate in the regular operation of the

mobile and fixed clinics in project area.

• Ensure the timely implementation of planned project activities

• Ensure the quality assurance of the services delivered to the community

• Ensure the regular and timely supply, stock and distribution of essential anti-malarial drugs,

bed nets and insecticide

• Provide support for coordinating referrals to hospitals for critical cases

• Organize recruitment, training, and supervision of Village Health Workers

• Coordinate, support, and supervisor the township-level project team in community mobilization

and participate in malaria awareness and prevention initiatives as well as in bed nets

distribution and impregnation activities

• Coordinate and conduct various surveys that will be organized by the project, including

baseline assessment, bed net use, entomological survey, socio-behavioral research on malaria

BCC, and possible school surveys.

Networking and Coordination

• Ensure the strategic direction, coordination and support of the project team working in

township

• Ensure regular monitoring and supervision of project activities

• Ensure the regular collection, storing and processing of program related data and information

for project evaluation and reporting

• When requested by the Field Operation Coordinator, liaise with local authorities at township

level

• Report to the Field Operation Coordinator any constraints, difficulties or needs in project

implementation.

• Other tasks as assigned.

Education, Technical Skills and Knowledge Required

• Public health or medical degree, or equivalent, from a recognized institution

• Valid Myanmar medical license (Sa-Ma)

• Previous experience working on malaria issues, preferably 5 years

• Strong organizational and management skills

• Public health background and/or experience in epidemiology desired

• Karen language ability highly desired

• Ability to communicate in spoken and written English with aptitude in reporting are

mandatory

• Good practical skills and experiences, good communications and cooperation skills

• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to situations as required due to changes on the

ground

• Emphasis will be given to personal qualities of enthusiasm and commitment to the project

• The person should be tolerant and flexible to work overtime as project requires

• Required to work in Kayin or Tanintharyi, Kawthaung including travel to remote rural areas
