Weapon Contamination Field Officer (ICRC)

Job Description/Requirements

Main responsibilities

▪ Act as the WeC focal point for Mrauk U and, maintain and develop good working relationships and

coordinate with relevant mine action stakeholders throughout the Areas;

▪ Review and provide feedbacks for analysis of WeC (Weapon Contamination) situation in Mrauk U

Area of Responsibility;

▪ Act as the resident focal person to coordinate with Sittwe/Mrauk_U on WeC activities;

▪ Facilitate the mine risk education trainings/ refresher trainings for Red Cross Volunteers organized by

Myanmar Red Cross Society in Myanmar;

▪ Support and facilitate field trips, contributing to the development and monitoring of activities

implemented by ICRC and MRCS field teams as required;

▪ Based on the data collected by respective Field Officers in the field, centralize and do systematic

analysis of the data gathered and present up-to-date reports to understand the weapon

contamination situation, plan risk awareness projects in Mrauk U/Sittwe, and provide assistance to

the affected communities;

▪ Follow up landmine/ Explosive Remnants of War (ERW) victims referred to Mrauk U/Sittwe and from

areas not under his/her responsibilities;

▪ Coordinate with different ICRC departments in Mrauk U/Sittwe to provide assistance to victims of

mines/ Explosive Remnants of War (ERW) as applicable;

▪ Write monitoring reports on MRCS Mine Risk Education (MRE) activities;

▪ Draft and translate letters regarding WeC (Weapon Contamination) activities to be sent to

Sittwe/Mrauk U management and government authorities;

▪ Register and treat information (general and specific) accurately and with confidentially.

Requirements and experience

possess the following qualifications and experiences;

▪ Relevant degree from a University or technical colleague;

▪ 2 years’ work experience in Weapon Contamination/ mine action or a similar field and at least 3 years

overall professional experiences;

▪ Proficiency in a technical WeC (Weapon Contamination)-related subject;

▪ Excellent command of written and spoken English as well as Myanmar language;

▪ Good presentation and communication skills, as well as a good computer skill;

▪ Have good knowledge of the geographic area assigned;

▪ Knowledge of the ICRC/humanitarian work is a strong asset.

humanitarian consequences
