Information Management Officer (ACTED)

Duties and responsibilities
1. Database management including:
a) customizing the database as per CCCM sector/cluster needs
b) customizing system vocabularies;
c) Develop and maintain an information management strategy, in consultation with the country
office(s) concerned, including internal information flow;
d) Identify and obtain the needed data and information elements required to produce analysis
and information products, including from partner INGOs implementing CCCM activities in the
field;
e) Create operational data management systems to enable effective analysis and monitoring
including data quality control protocols and standards for validation and sharing of data;
f) Provide information management support to joint needs assessments, or capacity
assessments of partners as required;
g) Produce visual information such as tables, graphs and other infographics in suitable format
for reporting and illustration purpose;
h) Provide input to draft factsheets, information notes, briefings and reports;
i) Support the promotion of data and information sharing within the humanitarian community;
j) Maintain data and information-sharing relationships within the humanitarian community and
with relevant governmental bodies.
k) Provide information management training to ACTED staff or CCCM partners as needed.
l) Integrating, archiving, and extracting large datasets for cross referencing and statistical
analysis, designing workflows and data collection models where necessary;
m) Liaising with UNHCR and CCCM partners to ensure that database development, data entry,
and data extraction methods provide optimum functionality and usability to stakeholders;
n) Together with CCCM TC and UNHCR, developing and implementing a dissemination
strategy for all information products (e.g. reports, data, maps) through, for example, hard
copy, standalone executable programs, and websites;
o) Supporting and participating in analytical work by processing data and information in a
suitable format;
p) Maintaining a close working relationship with Information Management counterparts in
partner agencies and organizations and with CCCM actors;
q) Conducting regular trainings for sector/cluster members and working closely with them,
making sure that the process of data entry is going smoothly;
r) Providing trainings on data collection and reporting to local stakeholders in areas of
displacement to support more effective local response, particularly in hard-to-reach areas
where international responses may prove difficult;
s) Working with the CCCM TC in order to produce reports, maps and charts from the data;
t) Any other duties as needed.
Knowledge and experience
a) Bachelor or Master’s degree in Computer Sciences, Mapping, Data Management, or a related field,
b) At least 2 years of relevant experience in the area of information management, previous relevant
experience with UN and the NGO sector is an advantage
c) Strong database design and management skills (MS Access, Excel, MySQL)
d) Solid knowledge of MS Office software products is required (especially: MS Access, MS Excel, MS
Power-point, MS Word).
e) Demonstrated experience with design packages (Adobe Illustrator/InDesign, Canva) and/or photography
is an added bonus.
f) Added value if knowledge of GIS systems and supporting software, and experience in the development
and management of spatial/geographic data layers;
g) Ability to package and disseminate information in different formats for various target audiences
h) Publication development/production skills, especially drafting text, design of graphic elements and layout
