Responsibility 1: Implement Risk Education activities in the frame of the project and in response to

emerging needs in accordance with SOPs

Aim: To ensure a participatory and qualitative approach of Risk Education in targeted villages.

Benchmarks: Activity reports properly completed; MRE work properly achieved; smooth liaison with and

greater participation of the community; increase in the number of people reached by RE activities.

Activities:

• Prepare field visits and community activities in liaison with the NTS team lead and Project Manager

and in collaboration with partners (District) and the community (Village).

• Implement appropriate RE activities in the community, such as Safety Briefings, radio messages,

and IEC

• Support participatory approaches with the community and implement capacity building for Village

Development Committees according to the HI strategy

• Ensure that all activities target men, women, youth, boys and girls and people with disabilities and

their families. Pay attention to gender equality.

• Supervise the MRE team in implementing Disability Rights and Equality awareness activities.
• Supervise the MRE assistants in implementing RE activities.
• Report on a regular basis to the Project Manager on RE activities, difficulties encountered and
feedback from the community.
Responsibility 2: Support NTS team or emergency referral when an incident occurs or is reported
Aim: Support a smooth process when an incident is reported of a victim is met.
Benchmarks: Any reported incident is responded to in a timely, professional manner, NTS team is
supported where possible by the MRE team.
Activities:
• Support UXO Reporting System by referring incidents and key informants to the NTS team, according
to the guidelines.
• Support HI’s response when an UXO accident occurs (interviews, reporting, technical expertise,
liaison with partners).
• Support referral for any victims encountered following HI’s referral procedure.
Responsibility 3: Manage MRE assistants
Aim: Maximise the operational capability of the MRE Team through effective line management.
Benchmarks: MRE Team acts as a professional unit within HI.
Activities:
• Assist the Project Manager in the evaluation and QM of the MRE Team.
• Manage MRE Team personnel including all aspects of discipline, competency and leave.
• Work with the MRE Team to ensure that appropriate HR and other HI rules are followed.
• Promote a pleasant work environment, the respect of welfare and discipline, act as a model in terms
of attitude, work ethic and general behaviour.
Responsibility 4: Reporting
Aim: To participate in strengthening the quality of the activities with appropriate reporting.
Benchmarks: positive feedback from the community; timely, productive and honest reporting to line
manager.
Activities:
• Update the line manager on a regular basis on all activities.
• Report any issues met in the implementation of activities in the field to the line manager.
• Be aware of the communities’ feedback on the MRE activities and report them to the line
manager.
Responsibility 5: Administrative and logistic responsibilities.
Aim: To guarantee the good use of all HI resources (material and financial) and the smooth running of
activities.
Benchmarks: No stated breach in logistic and administrative procedure; no complaints about behaviour.
Activities:
• Ensure the proper use of professional equipment and coordinate with logistics team for the
procurement of necessary items.
• Identify the administrative and logistic needs and pass the information to the line manager.
• Ensure the proper care and maintenance of all HI equipment.
REQUIRED PROFILE:
Education:
• University graduate (Social sciences, development studies, and other relevant fields linked with
the expectations of the position)
• At least 2 years’ experience with a humanitarian (I)NGO
• At least 2 years’ working in Mine Risk Education
• Advanced UXO recognition and knowledge
• Experience in data collection and recording
• Experience working with national implementing partners
• Experience in conducting participatory activities in village level
Skills:
• Ability to work with local communities and authorities
• Good community liaison, interviewing and observation skills
• Basic writing and reporting skills
• Ability to live and work in isolated and adverse conditions
• Strong Jinghpaw or other Kachin language skills for delivery of RE sessions
• Good English writing and speaking
• Microsoft Office
• Ability to work within a multi-cultural team
