Role and responsibilities
The purpose of the Project Coordinator position is to implement the shelter and emergencies portfolio.
The following is a brief description of the role.
Generic responsibilities
These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The responsibilities shall
be short and essential. Details belong in the Work and Development plan.
1. Adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures.
2. Contribute to the development of country, area and strategies; initiate and participate in the
development of relevant shelter and emergencies proposals.
3. Coordinate and manage project implementation (activities, budget follow up and project
documentation, reporting) in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements
4. Implement technical direction and ensure high technical quality of projects
5. Ensure that procurement, development and distribution of materials and equipment are timely
and according to procedures
6. Provide regular monthly progress reports to the Shelter PDM
7. Coordinate with relevant partners.
8. Support the development and management of project budgets (in cooperation with Shelter
PDM and Area Manager SE) and coordinate across Core Competencies
9. Collaborate with Integrated Program Manager on integrated programming, where relevant
10. Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills
11. Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders
12. Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with NRC’s advocacy strategy
Professional competencies

Generic professional competencies:
Minimum 3 years of experience from a senior level project implementation position in a
humanitarian context
Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
Very good working English
Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:
Proven experience in managing shelter projects with a national/local NGO or INGO
Previous experience in working in complex and volatile contexts
Experience of M+E procedures and reporting, including developing questions for baseline, PDMs
and end-line surveys
Experience in remote management
Grants management experience desirable but not essential
