Location: Based in Hsar Ker Pru Community Hospital, Thit Ka Thay, Myawaddy township
Karen Ethnic Health Organization Consortium (KEHOC) is the consortium organized with health
departments of 5 ethnic armed organizations which are the KNU Department of Health and Welfare
(KDHW), KNU/KNLA Peace Council health department, the Democratic Karen Benevolent Army (DKBA)
health department, Karen National Army (KNA) health department, and Karen Peace Force (KPF) health
department. The consortium members coordinate and collaborate with other ethnic health organizations,
and with the Ministry of Health and Sports to effectively serve the health and welfare needs of the
population residing in the Karen EAOs areas.
Hsar Ker Pru Community Hospital is located in the administrative area of KNA, and this hospital serves
many vulnerable communities in the Karen ethnic areas, where there are limited health services to
improve the health status of the communities. It serves all those in need regardless of race, religion,
gender, or political affiliation. It provides services and assistance free of charge to populations in distress,
victims of natural or man-made disasters, and victims of armed conflict.
POSITION SUMMARY: The hospital Nurse will function as a vital member of the healthcare team by
demonstrating a customer/patient focus, effective communication, professionalism, self-development,
and teamwork. The Nurse is expected to demonstrate excellent clinical, Operation Theater Management,
problem-solving, interpersonal, and leadership skills, and make decisions consistent with hospital policies,
department protocols/guidelines in the Hsar Ker Pru Community Hospital.
Duties and responsibilities:
• Assure safe, efficient, and effective patient placement balanced with optimal patient care and
services.
• Assisting patients in and out of bed.
• Participate in the comprehensive assessment and management of patient needs.
• Manage all nursing operations, including employee activities and quality of patient care.
• Assist in the development and implementation of patient-care programs, policies, and
procedures.
• Prepare the operating room for surgery, ensuring all necessary equipment, instruments, and
supplies are sterile and ready for use.
• Assist surgeons and other healthcare team members in preparing the patient for surgery, which
may include positioning, draping, and administering preoperative medications.
• Assess the patient's condition post-surgery, monitoring vital signs, pain levels, and any signs of
complications.
• Demonstrates skills in communication, collaboration, delegation, negotiation, learning, and
management of resources.
• Both individually and with internal team members, collaboratively plan and execute training
programs using existing tools and training processes.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule with overtime required due to the nature of the acute
treatment for emergency cases you are providing.
• Provide health education and support in community health projects when necessary.
• Build the capacity of other health workers through on-the-job coaching, mentoring, and
supportive supervision.
• Organize and actively participate in continued medical education, seminar-based and clinical
teaching
• Provide outreach medical care activities as needed or as assigned.
• Performs other duties as required/assigned.
Required qualifications:
Education and Experiences:
• Diploma or degree in Nursing.
• Preferably experience in clinical management in rural settings/health facilities.
• Preferably, a minimum of 5 years’ progressively responsible practical experience in clinical services.
• Preferably experience in Operation Theater Management as an OT Nurse.
Competencies:
• Ability to work long hours, including nights and weekends, and be available for emergencies
• Ability to stay at the workplace, Hsar Ker Pru Community Hospital, Thit Ka Thay, Myawaddy
township
• Communication skills, compassion, and a good bedside manner
• Ability to work under pressure and make quick, accurate decisions
• Ability to speak, type, write, and read in English and Burmese, preferably Karen as well
• Ability to maintain a good relationship with local communities and other stakeholders
• Excellent team builder or team player
