Senior System Engineeer

Description and Requirement

The function of the role is to provide MS Windows systems administration and support for engineering projects, infrastructure and development. The role will be focused on automation, building for scale, and fault tolerant systems. This role will also focus on technologies such as VMware, Engineering Compute Systems, and other modernised infrastructure based technologies. Serves as a senior technical architect and systems integrator for large complex systems of bank core-banking.

Positions at this level require highly specialised knowledge, abilities, skills and experience and often exercise independent judgement in the performance of their duties. The Senior level formulates recommendations consistent with directives, policies, standards and regulations. 

• Expert knowledge in Active Directory, DNS, OU Design and management, AD Site design, Group Policy, AD security, AD certificate services, LDAP, Global Catalog, AD troubleshooting, and AD. 
• Engineer, integrate, design and deploy various Windows components and expert knowledge in Active Directory, Group Policy, digital certificates, multi factor integration, DNS and DHCP
• Ensure technical documentation exists for all systems and is kept up to date to include inventory and patch levels of all systems 
• Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and improve operational efficiency.
• Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure
• Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
• Monitor and correct critical server issues and create recovery processes for failures and performance bottlenecks.
• Use native, add on tools, and third-party tools to troubleshoot malfunctions, optimizations.
• Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities
• Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning for performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required
• Review event logs on a regular basis.
• Assist teams in migrating projects to the cloud.
• Adhere to firm Change Management, Problem Management policies and familiarity with ITIL or other formalised IT operations foundations
• Follow relevant IT processes, finding solutions that minimise operating costs and improve customer (internal and external) experiences.
• Adhere to organisation’s policies and procedures.
• Utilise to understanding of cloud computing technologies and cloud based products.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in the financial industry

• Experience with various services in a MS Windows environment (e.g., DNS, DHCP)

• Experience working in an Active Directory environment including AD forest migration, remediation and consolidation, as well as a strong foundation in other directory service technologies including GPO, DNS and DHCP

• Experience installing and maintaining MS Windows Server (2008/2012/2016)

• Experience with scripting (batch, VBScript) but PowerShell experience preferred

• General experience with storage subsystem technologies (e.g., SAN/Fiber channel, LUNs)

• General experience with virtualization technologies

• Experience setting up and maintaining Group Policy and Local Policy configurations

• Hands on experience designing and configuring Microsoft Windows (Server and End User) technology including Antivirus, patch management and other System Administration tools

• Experience developing detailed Windows Administrative standards, design, and implementation documentation

• Experience capacity planning, performance monitoring and maintenance planning to ensure high availability.

• Coordinate with change control and environment management and network and security teams; upgrades and routine maintenance; troubleshooting support; performance monitoring; provides support and maintenance for data center, and DR sites.

• Experience implementing/supporting desktop virtualization such as VDI and DaaS.

• Assist in maintaining Application Packaging Standards / Desktop Standards / Hardware Imaging / OS Patches, etc.

• Design / Develop PowerShell Scripts for Automation of Operational Process, where appropriate

• Experience with at least one scripting language (PowerShell / VBScript / Python, etc.)
